About Sandfly Gallery & Gifts

Sandfly Gallery & Gifts is in the heart of downtown Medicine Hat. Sandfly is an art gallery and gift boutique selling original, unique, fine art and craft including painting, photography, sculpture, jewellery, pottery, glassware and so much more. Sandfly Gallery is proud to support artists at all levels including students, emerging and established artists. We are committed to promoting the creative vision of our artists from across western Canada.

Sandfly is owned and operated by visual artist Wendy Struck. Wendy holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in visual art. She is primarily a painter but also works with oil pastel, photography and mixed media. Wendy has varied work experience as a Set Painter, Prototype designer, Art Instructor, Exhibition Adjudicator and Artist in Residence. Wendy has exhibited and sold her work across western Canada including Saskatoon's Mendel Art Gallery, Regina's Neutral Ground, The Art Gallery of Regina, Inspire Studio & Gallery in Medicine Hat and the travelling Mary Cooper Gallery. Wendy is currently a board member of Visual Arts Alberta Association. She works out of Sandfly's on-site studio.

Sandfly's sunny studio is also where Wendy offers adult and children's art classes and workshops. Wendy is especially interested in delivering unique programming to beginner and advanced artists. She teaches traditional and contemporary mediums including oil and acrylic painting, charcoal and oil pastel drawing, mixed media, found object assemblage sculpture and more.
